Fort Lauderdale, FL – Double homicide suspect YNW Melly (real name Jamell Demons) is allegedly suffering from the coronavirus while behind bars at Broward County Jail in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

But despite his condition, a judge denied his request to seek medical treatment at home earlier this week. Now, TMZ reports his health is quickly deteriorating and he’s only being treated with Tylenol and Gatorade.

Sources close to the situation say Melly is experiencing labored breathing, body aches, headaches, high temperature and chills, especially at night. Although Melly has been isolated from his cellmate, who also tested positive for COVID-19, the jail staff is being accused of not checking on Melly hourly as they’ve been instructed.

Melly reportedly tested positive for the virus earlier this month. According to an Instagram post from his official account, he was concerned about getting proper treatment while locked up.

“Melly has tested positive for COVID-19 today while awaiting his trial in Broward County Jail,” the caption read. “He’ll be filing a motion for restricted release in hopes of better care due to any jails not being prepared to treat this new virus. He hopes for your support and to recover soon #prayformelly send positive energy to him please.”

Not long after, Melly’s legal team filed paperwork requesting his release from Broward County Jail and attorney Bradford Cohen began to aggressively pursue Melly’s release.

“Just an update we are waiting to hear from the judge regarding the release of Mr Demons to receive medical care and treatment,” he wrote on Instagram. “Supplemental motion was filed today detailing the jail having Mr. Demons share a cell with another COVID19 positive inmate. This is not recommended by any medical physician.”

Unlike Tekashi 6ix9ine, COVID-19 Won’t Spring YNW Melly Out Of Prison

Unlike Tekashi 6ix9ine, the presiding judge didn’t sympathize with Melly’s plight and ordered him to remain behind bars.

Melly stands accused of killing Anthony “YNW Sakchaser” Williams and Christopher “YNW Juvy” Thomas Jr. in 2018. He’s been in jail since last year awaiting trial.
