Westside Gunn and Mach-Hommy Reunite for a Easter Sunday Freestyle

The rappers reconnect over a classic Wu-Tang Clan instrumental.

Resurrecting an Easter Sunday tradition, Westside Gunn and Mach-Hommy have reunited for a ferocious nine-minute freestyle.

This time around, the duo use the searing soul loop from Wu-Tang Clan‘s “Hollow Bones” as their backdrop. The track opens with a hazy spoken word segment from Keisha Plum and a snippet of a notorious 50 Cent interview (“Anybody saying money didn’t change them just didn’t make enough.”) From there, RZA‘s flip of Syl Johnson’s howling “Is It Because I’m Black” eases in, providing the rappers with ample space to light up a fourth installment of “EasterGunn Day.” Gunn opens the track with some luxurious rants, clearing the way for Mach’s closer. Between verses, the Buffalo rapper shouts out his upcoming project Sincerely, Adolf (the closing volume of his ongoing Hitler Wears Hermes mixtape series,) as well as Pray for Haiti (presumably a new tape from Mach.)

“EasterGunn Day 4” arrives on the tail end of a week that already saw a pair of new singles from the Buffalo rapper. On Friday, Gunn released “TV Boy” and “Julia Dean,” a pair of brief, but heavy, glimpses at his incoming project. Mach, on the other hand, has been quietly releasing the digital versions of albums he previously sold for hundreds of dollars. In the last few months, his 2017 project, Fete Des Morts AKA Dia De Los Muertos, and 2018’s Bulletproof Luh both landed on DSPs, freeing them from the gaudy pricetags they once had. The Jersey rapper’s last project, Mach’s Hard Lemonade, arrived in 2020, along with a cryptic self-directed short film. Vinyl packages of that album went for $444 and sold out (like literally everything else the rapper’s put up on his site.)

Hear Westside Gunn and Mach-Hommy’s “EasterGunn Day 4” below. Hold tight for updates on Mach’s Pray For Haiti and Gunn’s Sincerely, Adolf in the weeks and months ahead.
