On Saturday, the Rolling Stones announced that they were postponing upcoming tour dates in the United States and Canada to give Mick Jagger time to receive medical treatment. A statement shared on the band’s Twitter account reassured fans that Jagger will be able to get back on stage and they will share the rescheduled dates soon. It said, “Mick has been advised by doctors that he cannot go on tour at this time, as he needs medical treatment. The doctors have advised Mick that he is expected to make a complete recovery so that can get back on stage as soon as possible.”

Jagger responded to the news on his personal Twitter and Instagram accounts. He wrote: “I’m so sorry to all our fans in America & Canada with tickets. I really hate letting you down like this. I’m devastated for having to postpone the tour but I will be working very hard to be back on stage as soon as I can. Once again, huge apologies to everyone.”

Update April 1: Rolling Stone confirmed that Jagger will be undergoing heart surgery to replace a valve. The procedure is scheduled to take place on Friday, and a full recovery is expected.
