Spike Lee’s Netflix adaption of his career-launching basic She’s Gotta Have It is again for one more season — and it seems this time round, Nola Darling and firm will probably be increasing the present’s invisible border past Fort Greene, Brooklyn.
“I’m thrilled so that you can get to know Nola Darling over again,” Nola actress DeWanda Wise in an announcement to Essence. “Spike, Tonya [Lewis Lee], our writers, forged, and crew traveled close to and much to deliver you one thing very particular.”
This season, Darling struggles with newfound success and finally has to determine if she is going to stay true to her self and her artwork, or give in to company pressures — a journey that helps remodel the lives of these in her circle.
The season announcement comes on the heels of Lee’s Oscar win for his movie BlacKkKlansman — the primary award he’s gained since launching his profession with She’s Gotta Have It in 1986, which starred Tracy Camilla Johns because the OG Nola Darling.
She’s Gotta Have It returns to Netflix on May 24.
