An audio clip of Chance the Rapper was performed in Saturday’s episode of Surviving R. Kelly during which he stated working with the singer/alleged rapist was a “mistake.” On Twitter, Chance used notes app to say the quote was taken out of context. However, he nonetheless regretted working with Kelly, and needed to apologize for ignoring the voices of survivors for therefore lengthy. “[T]he reality is any of us who ever ignored the R Kelly tales, or ever believed he was being setup/attacked by the system (as black males usually are) had been doing so on the detriment of black ladies and ladies,” he wrote. “I apologize to all of his survivors for working with him and for taking this lengthy to talk out.” Aside from Chance, the one different musicians featured within the documentary sequence are John Legend and Stephanie “Sparkle” Edwards.
