“Joe Crack asked me if the opportunity presented itself for me and [T.I.] to do a Verzuz, would I do it? Motherfucking right.”

The prospect of T.I. and Busta Rhymes squaring up for a round on Verzuz may have come and gone. But Busta’s sure that’s for the better.

In an interview with the Ebro In The Morning crew on Friday, the Brooklyn rapper assured the hosts T.I. saved himself a good deal of embarrassment by turning down the invite to face-off with him in a livestreamed bout of hits. “It would be uncivil that ass beating,” Busta gloated to the Hot97 hosts. “And that don’t just go for T.I.. That goes for any artist from any timeframe, any era of hip-hop,” the rapper confidently declared after admitting a matchup with the Atlanta rapper wasn’t a good fit. The hosts proposed Missy Elliot and Snoop Dogg as more suitable opponents.

Busta initially challenged T.I. to a round of Verzuz on The Fat Joe Show, where he acknowledged T.I.’s comments on NYC rapper’s having an advantage in the music industry. “I wanna understand what that’s about. But, from one brother that loves you to my brother that knows I love him, I’m begging you to step in the ring with me,” Busta told Joe on the live show.

T.I. will, however, make his Verzuz debut against Jeezy next month in the show’s season two premiere. The show is slated to return on November 19th at 8pm EST, streaming on Instagram Live and Apple Music.

Busta, on the other hand, is celebrating the release of his first album in 11 years, Extinction Level Event 2: The Wrath of God. It arrived on Friday, October 30th, with appearances from Pete Rock, Rakim, Rapsody, Kendrick Lamar, Q-Tip, and more.
