50 Cent is becoming just as big a figure in the television and film space as he is in the music industry.

On Tuesday (December 17), it was announced that 50 will be teaming up with Lionsgate to produce Trill League, an animated series adapted from Anthony Piper’s indie graphic novel of the same name. It will be produced by 3 Arts Entertainment and G-Unit Film & Television in association with Lionsgate Television. Piper and Jameel Saleem (writer on South Park) will be co-creators and writers for the new series.

According to producers, the series will follow a team of black superheroes who save the day from “monsters, super villains and haters of all kinds.” Trill League will be the first of many shows on Quibi a new short-form streaming video platform coming in April 2020.

Just to be clear, the “Culturally Insensitive” Art book is a collection of art done for the series, including animation series pitch art, character concepts and web comic drops leading up with Episode One. Basically a collection of 4 years of production work that went into the concept of Trill League and where it’s heading as a series. Some production work from animation industry pros @rawiii and @damon_moran included. It’s a revised edition of “The Black Book”. If you haven’t been following TL since the beginning, this is a good book to cop to give some insight into how this thing was built. #trillleague #sparrow #wondeisha #blackmayne #animation #cartoons #comics #swolemayne #tamtam #hiphop #blacksuperheroes #parody #comedy

“I am excited to bring G-Unit Film & Television to an innovative platform like Quibi with my partners at Lionsgate and 3 Arts,” 50 said in a statement. “Anthony Piper and Jameel Saleem have created a world we haven’t seen before in Trill League, looking forward to sharing it soon.”

The graphic novel which parodies several DC Comics characters was released in 2015 after Piper received some assistance through a Kickstarter campaign. “As an artist and writer, I couldn’t be more excited to fulfill this lifelong dream of creating a world with voices which reflected the one I came from,” Piper said in a statement. “Working alongside my talented co-writer Jameel, as well as all of the partners involved (G-Unit, Lionsgate, Quibi, 3Arts), this has been one of the dopest endeavors of my creative career.”

Trill League is not the only thing 50 has his hands on. He’s been teasing a prequel to the hit show Power and Drake has been rumored to produce 50’s new series Black Mafia Family. 50 is looking to leave a huge mark in the television and film industry.
