Frank Ocean has reportedly beat a $14.5 million libel suit stemming from accusations made by his estranged father, Calvin Cooksey. On Tuesday (October 17), a California federal judge ruled during the trial Cooksey hadn’t proved his Grammy Award-winning son defamed him with a 2016 Tumblr post. In the original post, Ocean claimed his father called a transgender waitress a “faggot” when he was a child.
According to Law360, U.S. District Judge Stephen V. Wilson said that while the court doesn’t have to rule whether the statement was truthful, Cooksey had still failed to meet necessary elements to make his defamation claim.
Cooksey was seeking the $14.5 million settlement for costing him “future financial opportunities.”
Ocean’s attorney Keith G. Bremer told Pitchfork, “It was a super sad case. I am sorry that my client had to go through this and am glad that we could bring closure.”

Andre 3000 Praises Young Thug: To Do Those Things He Does, You Have To Have Big Balls
Some OutKast fans were shocked when Erykah Badu compared “mumble rapper” Young Thug to GOAT contender André 3000.
“Amazing Thugger. Reminds me a certain ATLien I know,” tweeted Badu in response to Thug’s controversial Jeffery album cover.
It turns out Dré is a big fan his fellow Atlanta native’s music and style.
3000 spoke about Young Thug in a feature article for Complex.
“He’s exciting,” said Andre. “There’s no box. He’s all over the place. To do those things he does, you have to have big f-ckin’ balls.”
The Love Below creator continued, “It’s almost harder than the guy who’s portraying hard, you know? It’s kind mind-f-cking people. It’s saying, don’t get too comfortable with me. That’s one my mottos: Don’t let people get too comfortable with what you’re doing.”
André is rarely releasing music these days, but he has contributed to recent projects by Frank Ocean, Kanye West, A Tribe Called Quest, Travis Scott, and Kid Cudi.
“There’s always a new wave artists, and sometimes I’m just like, ‘I’m good. I’ll let the young guys do it.’ And whenever they reach out and say, ‘Hey, let’s try something,’ I’m with helping them,” explained Dré. “I’m doing it more for them than for my own self. I don’t get much happiness from doing music like that – I get happiness from pleasing who I’m working with, and helping them, and seeing them be excited.”
Unfortunately, Kast followers should not hold their breath for a new album from the Grammy winning duo.
“Even with Outkast – if we never do another album, I’m totally fine with that,” stated 3 Stacks.
He added, “At this stage I’m really more focused on what I am going to be doing 10 years from now. And I hope to God it won’t be rapping.”
A$AP Rocky & A$AP Bari Spotted Leaving FYF Fest 2017 Together
Los Angeles, CA – A$AP Rocky and A$AP Bari were spotted leaving Los Angeles’ FYF Fest 2017 together in Rocky’s white Ferrari over the weekend, suggesting the Mob’s starting quarterback, Rocky, is standing behind Bari — the man who initially introduced him to the late A$AP Yams and kickstarted his career.
Bari was accused sexual assault after a disturbing video came to light earlier this month. The A$AP Mob members’ reunion comes a week after Rocky possibly took a shot at Bari during his set at the Agenda trade show and concert in Long Beach, California, where he amended the lyrics “Telephone Calls” to call Bari a “bitch.”
Since then, there’s been no additional public response from the Mob — aside from Playboi Carti’s public condemning last week — and Bari has yet to say anything further after his ficial statement. It’s likely the reconciliation happened fline at some point over the last week.
FYF Festival 2017 featured amazing performances from artists like A Tribe Called Quest, Erykah Badu, Missy, and Frank Ocean who brought out actor Brad Pitt.
