Andre 3000 Praises Young Thug: To Do Those Things He Does, You Have To Have Big Balls

Some OutKast fans were shocked when Erykah Badu compared “mumble rapper” Young Thug to GOAT contender André 3000.

“Amazing Thugger. Reminds me a certain ATLien I know,” tweeted Badu in response to Thug’s controversial Jeffery album cover.

It turns out Dré is a big fan his fellow Atlanta native’s music and style.

3000 spoke about Young Thug in a feature article for Complex.

“He’s exciting,” said Andre. “There’s no box. He’s all over the place. To do those things he does, you have to have big f-ckin’ balls.”

The Love Below creator continued, “It’s almost harder than the guy who’s portraying hard, you know? It’s kind mind-f-cking people. It’s saying, don’t get too comfortable with me. That’s one my mottos: Don’t let people get too comfortable with what you’re doing.”

André is rarely releasing music these days, but he has contributed to recent projects by Frank Ocean, Kanye West, A Tribe Called Quest, Travis Scott, and Kid Cudi.

“There’s always a new wave artists, and sometimes I’m just like, ‘I’m good. I’ll let the young guys do it.’ And whenever they reach out and say, ‘Hey, let’s try something,’ I’m with helping them,” explained Dré. “I’m doing it more for them than for my own self. I don’t get much happiness from doing music like that – I get happiness from pleasing who I’m working with, and helping them, and seeing them be excited.”

Unfortunately, Kast followers should not hold their breath for a new album from the Grammy winning duo.

“Even with Outkast – if we never do another album, I’m totally fine with that,” stated 3 Stacks.

He added, “At this stage I’m really more focused on what I am going to be doing 10 years from now. And I hope to God it won’t be rapping.”

A$AP Rocky & A$AP Bari Spotted Leaving FYF Fest 2017 Together

Los Angeles, CA – A$AP Rocky and A$AP Bari were spotted leaving Los Angeles’ FYF Fest 2017 together in Rocky’s white Ferrari over the weekend, suggesting the Mob’s starting quarterback, Rocky, is standing behind Bari — the man who initially introduced him to the late A$AP Yams and kickstarted his career.

Bari was accused sexual assault after a disturbing video came to light earlier this month. The A$AP Mob members’ reunion comes a week after Rocky possibly took a shot at Bari during his set at the Agenda trade show and concert in Long Beach, California, where he amended the lyrics “Telephone Calls” to call Bari a “bitch.”

Since then, there’s been no additional public response from the Mob — aside from Playboi Carti’s public condemning last week — and Bari has yet to say anything further after his ficial statement. It’s likely the reconciliation happened fline at some point over the last week.

FYF Festival 2017 featured amazing performances from artists like A Tribe Called Quest, Erykah Badu, Missy, and Frank Ocean who brought out actor Brad Pitt.

5 undercard acts to catch at Panorama Festival – Dancing Astronaut

Goldenvoice’s Panorama Festival has been billed as “the East Coast Coachella,” and with a lineup including the likes Frank Ocean, Tame Impala, and Nine Inch Nails, it’s hard to dispute the notion. The three-day event, which returns next weekend, first arrived in New York in 2016, fering a for its inaugural stint on Randall’s Island.

Ahead Panorama’s second edition, we’ve compiled five undercards to catch at the festival. Rather than point out the obvious — as in not missing one Tame Impala’s final performances 2017 or skipping the psychoacoustic circus that is Nicolas Jaar — we’ve opted to highlight five lesser known acts that should be on your radar next weekend.

Panorama Festival takes place July 28-30 on Randall’s Island Park. Tickets are available .

1. Motor City Drum Ensemble

Danilo Plessow is one the more consistently celebrated talents the underground. One the few remaining vinyl-only DJs at his level, Plessow, under his beloved moniker Motor City Drum Ensemble, has become a bastion sorts for the true art DJing. Just as liable to throw down some old school disco as he is some ripping house music, Motor City Drum Ensemble is a surefire thrill behind the decks every time he takes the stage.

2. THEY.

Since launching in 2015 with their debut album Nü Religion, enigmatic R&B duo THEY. have caused quite a stir in the industry. Combining elements hip hop, rock, and electronic music, their sound is hard to pin down. If there’s one pervading element: it’s a fierce drive to lift genre preconceptions on their head. It certainly doesn’t hurt that the pair are backed by boutique label powerhouse, Mind a Genius, the same imprint that calls artists like Zhu and Gallant its home.

3. S U R V I V E

Fans Stranger Things will receive a special treat on Saturday with a rare performance from S U R V I V E, the highly celebrated composers behind Netflix’s hit sci fi series. Whether you’re a fan the show or not, S U R V I V E are worth checking out purely to witness the magic the self-described “experimental synth quartet.” Expect eerie ‘80s sound design, creepy melodies, and hypnotizing live synth jams.

4. DJ Shadow

A chance to see DJ Shadow should never be passed up. One the greatest turntablists all time, not to mention one the more forward-thinking producers the day, DJ Shadow has consistently proven a veritable innovator in the field. Still buzzing f the release his fifth studio album, The Mountain Will Fall, which topped Billboard’s Dance/Electronic Albums chart upon release, DJ Shadow is a must for fans trip hop, bass music, or turntablism in general.

5. Derrick Carter

The true soul house music will be well-represented at Panorama Festival thanks to veterans like Derrick Carter and Omar-S. The former, a long-standing Chicago legend, and the latter, one Detroit’s more contemporary stars, will hold down the festival’s new dedicated underground state, The Point. Carter in particular, what with his over two-decade career in the industry, will be a much appreciated treat for house-heads and techno enthusiasts alike.

Frank Ocean Brings Out Brad Pitt At FYF Fest

Los Angeles, CA – FYF Fest 2017 went down in Los Angeles over the weekend and boasted an incredible roster A-list artists, including Björk, A Tribe Called Quest, Missy Elliott, Erykah Badu and Frank Ocean. During the Odd Future alum’s Saturday night (July 22) set, he brought out an unexpected guest — actor Brad Pitt.

Ocean evidently caught wind Pitt’s comments during an interview with GQ, praising the Blonde singer. “I’ve been listening to a lot Frank Ocean,” he said. “I find this young man so special. Talk about getting to the raw truth. He’s painfully honest. He’s very, very special,”

Consequently, Ocean reached out to Pitt and went the whole nine, inviting Pitt to join him at FYF for a cover Stevie Wonder’s 1972 reinterpretation “Close To You/Never Can Say Goodbye,” originally written by The Carpenters.

According to Billboard, he said he discovered the song while in a “YouTube wormhole.” Ocean said, “It became my favorite song. I hope I do it justice.”

Meanwhile, the Fight Club actor did what he does best — acted out a phone conversation while Ocean performed the song.

For concertgoers, it was likely a relief Ocean simply showed up. The 29-year-old Long Beach native cancelled two major festival appearances earlier this year and pulled out FYF Fest 2015 at the last minute, prompting organizers to replace him with Kanye West.
