Ariana Grande has finally addressed the passing of her ex-boyfriend Mac Miller. Miller died at his San Fernando Valley home on September 7 of a suspected drug overdose.
The day he passed, the platinum-selling pop singer was forced to shut down her Instagram comments, partly because some people were blaming Grande for his demise.
The two broke up back in May and she got engaged to SNL actor Pete Davidson shortly after. Meanwhile, Miller was seemingly spiraling out of control. A few weeks after their split, he was arrested for a DUI when he crashed his Mercedes G-Wagon into a pole.
On Friday (September 14) — exactly one week after Miller’s death — Grande posted a touching Instagram video of him. In the clip, he isn’t initially aware she was filming him.
“I adored you from the day i met you when i was nineteen and i always will,” she wrote in the caption. “i can’t believe you aren’t here anymore. i really can’t wrap my head around it. we talked about this. so many times. i’m so mad, i’m so sad i don’t know what to do.
“You were my dearest friend. for so long. above anything else. i’m so sorry i couldn’t fix or take your pain away. i really wanted to. the kindest, sweetest soul with demons he never deserved. i hope you’re okay now. rest.”
Miller’s death sent shockwaves through the entire music industry. On Tuesday (September 11), a vigil was held at Blue Slide Park in his hometown of Pittsburgh, where thousands of people came to pay their respects.
Miller was 26.
