Kreayshawn Quit Rapping Because She Was "Too Privileged" & Needed To Make Room For POC

After exploding onto the scene in 2011 with “Gucci Gucci,” White Girl Mob alum Kreayshawn released her debut album, Somethin’ ‘Bout Kreay, in 2012 and has been quiet ever since.

In a series tweets posted on Tuesday (August 15), the Bay Area native claimed she left her rapping career behind to make more room for women color. She also explained that although she grew up “broke and in the ghetto,” she will never grasp what people color go through on a daily basis.

“Yes, I grew up broke and in the ghetto,” she wrote. “No does not mean I understand the struggle POC. Yes, I made rap music and prited f what I at the time understood as all I knew. Being broke and a bad person, but I stepped f that because, I was too privileged. So many gr8 and talented WOC who make music deserved that spot more then me. And to take that spot with my ass self was an insult.”

She also touched on the various systems’ flawed designs that set up POC to “fail.”

“Any person getting upset when someone says, ‘White Lives Don’t Matter’ ‘Fuck white people’ etc. doesn’t not even understand what a person has gone threw dealing with the law system, education system, welfare system, all white controlled and designed to fail POC,” she wrote.

After her social media tirade, “Bonehead Kreay” said someone was trying to hack her account and that she was going to disappear from Twitter for a while to get a lobotomy.

DOOM Announces 1st New KMD Album In 24 Years With "True Lightyears" Featuring Jay Electronica

After almost 25 years and dozens projects, DOOM is back with a fresh KMD track. “True Lightyears,” which features Jay Electronica, is part Adult Swim’s The Missing Notebook Rhymes series, which promises 15 weeks new DOOM collabs and singles. The Jay-assisted track marks the second week and follows “Negus” with guest vocals from the late Sean Price.

In addition to “True Lightyears,” DOOM has also revealed he’s releasing another full-length project under the KMD moniker titled Crack In Time, the first new KMD album in 24 years. It’s reportedly being distributed  Metalface/Nature Sounds, DOOM’s own imprint.

Back when DOOM was known as Zev Love X, the enigmatic rapper was part a Hip Hop group called KMD. Formed in 1988, the group began as a graffiti crew, but eventually turned to music. A year later, MC Serch recruited them for the seminal 3rd Bass LP, The Cactus Album, which led to a deal with Elektra Records.

KMD released its debut project, Mr Hood, in 1991, but the label shelved the group’s sophomore album, 1993’s Black Bastards. After DOOM’s younger brother and KMD member DJ Subroc was killed by a car when he was crossing a New York expressway, the London-born MC disappeared for years. He eventually reemerged in the late ’90s as the villainous MF Doom.

OVO Sign In Toronto Sets Off New Restaurant Rumors For Drake

Drake might have fallen f Billboard’s Hot 100 chart for the first time in eight years this week, but you can’t keep a good Drizzy down, and the Canadian rhymer is already on to the next.

According to CBC News, Drake appears on the verge launching a new endeavor in the heart Toronto’s Financial District.

At the corner Yonge and Wellington Streets, a sign featuring Drake’s OVO owl has popped up outside a spot that previously housed a bar and grill. In addition to the OVO owl, the sign includes a logo that reads “Pick 6 Coming Soon.”

Although all signs point to Pick 6 being a restaurant (or sports bar, given the use the phrase “pick six” in football), there are still few clues on Drake’s latest venture.

Drake is already associated with a nearby restaurant called Fring’s, but this new one seems to be more clearly connected with his growing brand. He joins the list rappers who have ventured into the hospitality biz — T.I., Rick Ross, Ludacris and 2 Chainz are among the artists who currently or previously owned restaurants.

Hip Hop Continues Condemning Donald Trump's Handling Of Charlottesville

Following the deadly violence that went down in Charlottesville, Virginia during a white supremacist rally over the weekend, Donald Trump has held three press conferences where he first denounced violence “on many sides,” then called racism “evil” while condemning white nationalists, and then went back to blaming “both sides” for the incident a day later.

This has infuriated and disgusted countless people, including T.I., who believes Trump is being ordered around by his white supremacists “homeboys.”

“Exactly what I expect from a sucka,” T.I. told TMZ while boarding a plane at LAX. “Cowards throw rocks and hide their head, so earlier they apply pressure and made him denounce his white supremacist homeboys, his neo-Nazi partners, and after bipartisan pressure, he denounced them, but I’m sure there was a phone call from a David Duke, ‘What the fuck you think you’re doing? This is not what we elected you for.’ Then he had to come back and reverse. Fuck him man, to the fullest. He’s a sucka. Fuck him. Fuck them.

“We can love people who don’t hate,” he added. “You can’t love people who have hearts full hate. Fuck ’em all.”

Tip wasn’t the only member the Hip Hop community speaking out against Trump and condemning white supremacists.

Killer Mike fered his own thoughts on the matter Instagram while touching on the recent arrest  Takiyah Thompson, the Workers World Party activist who pulled down a Confederate statue in Durham, North Carolina earlier this week.

“Can someone please inform the casino owner masquerading as the United States president that although he’s totally correct in Jefferson and Washington, and many the other notables and presidents this country being slave owners, absolutely correct about that — it doesn’t equate to keeping a confederate general statue up because they were an oppositional force to this union.

“I just don’t want to look that fucking stupid to the rest the world,” he added. “So please stop saying that stupid shit.”

He captioned the video with, “With all due respect Mr. POTUS (and u lame duck muthafuckers that game him the bullshit half ass slaves excuse for the confederate statute support) From your humble constituent. Please watch and swipe. let’s Keep the country Great and never honor an enemy we defeated. That’s weak shit. Salutes, sir. Be well.”

Questlove, Chris Rock, A-Trak, John Legend, El-P, Sage Francis, Dam Funk, Talib Kweli, Blockhead, LeBron James, and countless others have also taken to social media to chime in on the situation.

Questlove said, “It’s time to go,” while El-P echoed those sentiments, writing, “Nothing clever left to say. time for this guy to be forced out fice.”

Teen Faces Criminal Charges For Playing XXXTENTACION's Music In Church

Brampton, Ontario – A 16-year-old Canadian is facing criminal charges after he hijacked a Brampton, Ontario church service by blaring XXXTENTACION’s “Look at Me!” through the church’s PA system.

According to the Brampton Guardian, parishioners felt “deeply threatened” when they heard lyrics such as “can’t keep my dick in my pants” and “she put her tongue on my dick.”

The unexpected interruption came just as a guest priest from Poland was about to read the gospel. At that moment, two youths reportedly went up to the lectern and started to blast the music.

Witnesses said the well-dressed young men entered through the side door and sat at the front the church.

Police were called to the scene immediately and churchgoers restrained one the young men until they arrived.

One woman told the Brampton Guardian that those in attendance “heard pranities blaring in the most sacred space they have.” Another told the local newspaper they considered the act a religious hate crime, though police have said they aren’t looking at it as one.

The teen has been charged with “mischief to religious property, disturbing a religious service and breach recognizance.”
