Last year, A Tribe Called Quest presented We Got It from Here… Thank You 4 Your Service, their final album as a group.
The legendary Hip Hop collective was part the lineup for New York City’s Panorama festival on Sunday.
Q-Tip, Ali Shaheed Muhammad, and Jarobi White used the occasion to announce the set would be their final performance in their hometown.
“This is our last show here in New York. That’s it as Tribe. You know, we gotta honor our brother, Phife Dawg,” said Q-Tip.
ATCQ founding member Malik “Phife Dawg” Taylor passed away from diabetes complications in March 2016.
“We want to thank everybody in New York City for supporting A Tribe Called Quest since 1988 up to now,” Q-Tip also expressed to the NYC crowd. “And we want to thank all y’all who extended all your wishes, empathy, and prayers, not only to us, but to Phife’s family as well.”

Amber Rose Cops Pleas After Saying Philly Women Aren’t Traditionally Attractive
Amber Rose keep talking herself into L’s. Wiz Khalifa’s ex-wife is walking back comments where she basically said Philadelphia women are burly (we’re exaggerating, but not really).
““I grew up in a very poor neighborhood, and I don’t know how I can say this without sounding f—ed up, but a lot the people where I’m from aren’t traditionally attractive people,” Rose said. “And for me, being blessed with beauty, as beautiful women know, is a blessing and a curse.”
The mother and model was quickly fried on the Internets for her suspect commentary.
Now she’s walking back her observations.
Oh, so she says don’t believe the words that were coming out her mouth?
The latest episode Power (Season 4, episode 6) went left real quick, with epic moments that will be felt for the rest the season. Major Spoilers below. You have been warned!
Tommy finally meets the Chicago connect. Jason Micic introduces himself, and quickly makes it known who’s the real boss.
He instructs Tommy to cut all ties with Ghost. Tommy, experiencing Felipe Lobos Deja Vu, makes it clear that he won’t kill Ghost, but will disassociate as requested. During a Chicago style celebration, Tommy waxes poetic on killing Milan, thanking Micic for approving the hit. Micic looked to return the favor, by drugging Tommy and driving him to the middle nowhere to end his life!
Petar, surprisingly in Chicago too, informs Micic that Tommy killed Milan on his own accord without approval. A classic Power double cross, Tommy pleads his case, as Petar was there when Milan died and knew the plan. Who would Micic believe? Asking his companion Tatiana to make the call, they kill Petar as Tommy was more believable. Now Tommy can possibly run operations in New York and Los Angeles, while staying alive.
Z-Ro Snitched On Himself Rapping About Beating Girlfriend, Allegedly
Detroit, MI – Actor/rapper Page Kennedy has tapped the brakes on acting to shine the spotlight on his music. After dropping his highly personal Torn Pages LP in March, he’s been rolling out singles like “The Story Of O.J.” and his most recent, “Made You Look,” featuring a cast reputable MCs — KXNG Crooked, Elzhi, Mickey Factz, Cassidy and King Los.
What many people may not realize is the Motor City native has been at it for years. His Hip Hop connections stretch back to a time when The Notorious B.I.G. was still alive and Ice Cube wasn’t a major movie star.
“I have been rapping since I was 7,” Kennedy tells HipHopDX. “I have opened shows for Biggie, Ice Cube, Method Man and Redman. I been doing this. I just never had a deal and now, we are in a climate that rappers don’t need deals anymore to be heard. So I used my following that I gained by making people laugh to hear what it is I really have to say.
During one Cube’s stops in Clarkston, Michigan for the 1992 Lollapalooza music festival, Kennedy remembers getting a chance to kick it on the N.W.A legend’s tour bus.
“When he was in Michigan, I used to go around the shows that he did with my manager at the time, Rodney L., who helps book him,” he explains. “Then, when I got a little older I started to open for him. I remember being a kid, like maybe 15, and I remember I used to play Sports Talk Baseball on Ice Cube’s tour bus on his Sega Genesis. It was amazing ’cause I was really young and learned so much from those guys. I will cherish those moments forever.”
Fast-forward to 2017 and he’s more focused than ever on making his own mark on Hip Hop culture. His forthcoming mixtape, Straight Bars, is built on a strictly lyrical foundation and the guest spots unequivocally display the art rhyming.
“I look at myself as a lyricist,” he says. “I look at myself as one the best at it. I’m always inclined to find the most powerful MCs and have them all on the song to see who stands out, so I handpicked these artists. Crooked I KXNG Crooked] is definitely is the stand out on this song in my opinion, which is why I put him last. No one could have gone after that unless Eminem was on this song laughs].
“Everyone on the song is dope or they wouldn’t be on it,” he adds. “Crooked just had a chance to hear what everyone did before. Not to say that he wouldn’t had still killed it, ’cause he would have. He is one the best we have. But so is Elzhi.”
While Kennedy prepares to release Straight Bars on August 18, it’s important to note that fans his acting work (Weeds, Blue Mountain State, S.W.A.T.) will see more him on the small and big screens. His Hip Hop career in no way signifies the end his acting, but it’s something he feels compelled to do right now.
“I’m going hard on this because it’s like a itch that you have and if you don’t scratch, it’s just going to bother you forever,” he admits. “I’m not done acting. I actually have a large role in a blockbuster movie that’s coming out next summer called Meg Jason Statham, Rainn Wilson],but for right now, I’m just living and breathing as a rapper.”

Vic Mensa Blasts R. Kelly: He’s A Scumbag And A Very Dirty Man (VIDEO)
SZA followers waited several years for the R&B songstress to release her debut studio album.
Ctrl finally arrived on June 9 to critical acclaim.
According to SZA, the project only saw the light day because her Top Dawg Entertainment label took extreme measures to get the music out.
“They just took my hard drive from me,” SZA told The Guardian. “I just kept f-cking everything up. I just kept moving sh-t around. I was choosing from 150, 200 songs, so I’m just like, who knows what’s good anymore?”
The “Drew Barrymore” singer admitted if some unknown person from TDE had not taken those recordings, the version the public got to hear may have been different.
“I’m also driving myself f-cking crazy, so I don’t know. Give me another month and it would have been something completely different,” said SZA.
Last October, SZA seemed to be fine with Top Dawg taking control her release date.
She tweeted (then deleted), “I actually quit. TDE President Punch] can release my album if he ever feels like it. Y’all be blessed.”
Besides listening to the Ctrl album or attending the “Set It Off” tour with Bryson Tiller, fans can also hear SZA’s music on the HBO series Insecure.
